Palestine:PITA launches its second Employment Generation Program “EGP 2” that provides fresh graduates with new skills and an opportunity to find a job in one of the local Palestinian companies.

The Palestinian Information Technology Association of Companies (PITA) in cooperation with the Palestinian Enterprise Development (PED) project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI), is seeking to train recent ICT university graduates under PITA‘s Employment Generation Program (EGP).

The EGP training program will focus on providing needed specialized ICT skills and will provide essential training in general business skills. PITA will select 120 apprentices and train them for one month in three different groups of Software, Hardware & Networks and Web & Graphic Design. The training will be held in three training locations: Nablus, Ramallah and Hebron. The apprentices will receive a stipend of $300 at the end of the training month. The training will start in the third week of February 2008.

After the one month training, PITA will hold two Employment Days where the participating companies and institutions from any economic sector (ICT or non-ICT) can interview and hire trainees. The EGP will cover 50% (up to $300) of the monthly salaries for the first three months of permanent employment.

Recent graduates with the below qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering , Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Management Information Systems- MIS, Computer Information Systems -CIS, Computer Information Technologies-CIT or Computer Science from an accredited university.

  • Graduated in the years 2006 and 2007 only.

  • Currently unemployed.

  • Good command of English.

  • Commitment to full participation in the program.

Participating companies/Institutions are required:

  • To be registered at the PA.

  • To commit to employ the apprentice permanently with a clear scope of work and title.

  • To pay a fee of $75 (PITA members pay $50) per apprentice and upon signing the contract.

To cooperate with PITA and provide needed information and evaluation reports before and during the program.
