Sunday, September 18 marks a year since Mr. Nizar Zakka, the Secretary General at the Arab ICT Organization (IJMA3) and the Vice President of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), was kidnapped in Iran. The anniversary comes during a period of general ambiguity in the status or fate of his trial. A year has passed, and the global ICT expert Mr. Nizar Zakka is still held captive away from his family, his work, and his homeland. Furthermore, he is in extremely difficult humanitarian and health conditions, according to the limited information that we receive from time to time.
On this occasion, the Arab ICT Organization (IJMA3) renews its demand for the immediate release of Mr. Nizar Zakka, and his safe return back to his family, work and home. IJMA3 appeals to all Lebanese and Iranian governments officials as well as influential decision makers to increase their efforts and work continuously to put an end to the unacceptable humanitarian situation and worrisome living conditions to which Mr. Zakka is subjected. And finally, to settle Mr. Zakka’s case with his immediate release and safe return to his homeland.
The Arab ICT Organization (IJMA3) also appeals to the local, regional and global ICT community and civil society, as well as everyone who has worked with Nizar in Lebanon, the region and the world to join their voices to our voices, and to assist us and support our legitimate demands for the freedom of Nizar Zakka.
