CEO Ross Cormack was on hand to accept the accolade during a glittering ceremony attended by more than 250 of the region’s IT professionals.
This is the third Pan Arab Web Award for Nawras. Recognition for the dynamic website highlights a creative design that reflects the same pleasingly different, customer friendly approach found throughout this trendsetting company.
Picking up the award, jubilant CEO Ross Cormack, said, “This annual event recognises and rewards web creators who communicate in the most professional manner while meeting international standards. I am thrilled to accept this award on behalf of everyone at Nawras. We always try our best to be caring, pleasingly different and excellent and this philosophy extends to our website. We are using this important form of communication to talk to our valued customers as part of our concerted effort to live the customer experience every single day.”
The Pan Arab Web Awards are held in association with Microsoft, MSN Arabia and the Business Software Alliance. Designed to inspire and reward web creators, the awards are an encouragement for all sectors to showcase their websites and become more involved with information technology. This year saw the submission of more than 410 entries.
In the past Nawras has received numerous awards for its website including the Golden Award for Best Strategic ICT Portal at the Pan Arab Web Awards in 2008 and the Golden Award for Software and Telecommunications at the Oman Web Awards in 2007.
“We are absolutely delighted to accept this award which assures our customers that they continue to benefit from a high quality website as singled out by the Pan Arab Web Awards 2009,” said Tariq Al Barwani, Nawras online manager. He continued, “By its very nature the website is a work in progress and I am proud to be steering its evolvement to meet ever-changing needs. This award also means a lot to me personally because the growth of information technology supports His Majesty’s vision for the successful continuation of the Sultanate’s development. In our humble way, we are committed to contributing towards this aim.”
The award-winning Nawras website www.nawras.om includes MyNawras, a free of charge, self-care facility protected by a unique user name and password. With MyNawras, postpaid customers can also view their latest billing information and pay online with a Visa or MasterCard through E-payment. Payment is carried through a secure network and reflected in real time.
Nawras was first to provide a world-class EDGE network giving customers wireless data services for the first time. In 2007, the company launched the first 3G+ network in Oman and now the metropolitan areas of all the major cities are receiving coverage. Nawras offers 3G roaming in 30 countries enabling customers to also benefit from high speed data access when travelling out of the Sultanate.
