Gitex Saudi Arabia 2008

KINGDOM HEADS RISING REGIONAL DEMAND FOR COMPUTERS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY APPLICS AS MIDDLE EAST INTERNET USAGE GROWS

Saudi Arabia is at the forefront of a growing regional computer and IT market. The Kingdom’s strong computer and IT market expansion is being fuelled by a rapidly-increasing population, expected to double in the Saudi capital Riyadh over the next five years, a powerful economy generating high disposable income among the Kingdom’s citizens, a dramatic increase of Internet usage including e-commerce and e-banking and a surge in sales of personal computers and notebooks which require cutting-edge hardware and software applications. So strong is Saudi Arabia’s computer and IT market that it accounts for almost 50% of regional sales of this industry worth about SR.18 billion. The number of people using the Internet in the Middle East is predicted to triple, to a 25 million, by 2008, a remarkable development considering that the Internet has been available in Saudi Arabia for less than 10 years – when all connections passed through Government servers.

SR.1 BILLION INVESTMENT IN NATION-WIDE WIRELESS SERVICES; RIYADH STREET FIRST TO GO ‘WIRELESS’

In a powerful indication of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Internet, computer and IT development, the Riyadh-based Integrated Telecom Company has invested close to SR.1 billion in creating a nation-wide data communication services infrastructure. A 12,000 km-long fiber-optic network linking the Kingdom’s major cities has been deployed, wireless stations, data centers and fiber rings have been set up in the capital Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, and Damman. In addition, the Riyadh Development Authority has launched the first stage of its 'Smart City' programmed by switching on cutting-edge WiMax transceivers. It is amid these exciting developments that GITEX Saudi Arabia 2008 is going to be held. The exhibition is expected to draw record participation by leading international IT, computer and Internet investors who have been following recent developments in this sector in Saudi Arabia and are eager to become involved or bolster their presence in the Saudi market. GITEX Saudi Arabia 2008 will offer them a unique showcase for their cutting-edge products and services as well as a high-profile platform for contacts with their leading Saudi counterparts.

FAST-PACED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY ACROSS SAUDI ARABIA PROVIDES FURTHER FUEL FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMPUTER MARKET EXPANSION

Saudi Arabia’s computer and Information Technology market expansion is being propelled by a fast-paced construction activity in the country. Everywhere, new office buildings, hotels, commercial centers and leisure complexes are being built. They all require a rich variety of office technology, Internet connectivity, mobile and wireless networking systems, especially since the Saudi government prides itself on being at the leading-edge forefront of IT and Internet services. This makes the vibrant cosmopolitan Saudi capital Riyadh the ideal venue for the GITEX Saudi Arabia 2008 exhibition – one of the world’s premier IT and computer shows hosted in conjunction with the Dubai World Trade Center. Riyadh is a melting-pot of international investors from across the world and constitutes one of the most exciting IT markets in the world. Saudi Arabia's continues population growth ensures powerful demand for the latest in IT, computer, and Internet software and hardware products for years to come. That’s why organizers are expecting record international investor participation at the GITEX Saudi Arabia 2008 exhibition.

A UNIQUE MEETING-PLACE FOR THE WORLD’S TOP INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MARKET INVESTORS

GITEX Saudi Arabia 2008 will group the world’s top information technology market investors at the center of a fast-growing, investor-friendly regional IT, computer, and Internet services market. Not only will participants enjoy valuable exposure for their latest cutting-edge software and hardware products and services, they will also be mingling with leading representatives of the industry from Saudi Arabia and across the world, taking advantage of an exciting array of unparalleled investment opportunities. They will also be able to benefit from the expertise of leading Saudi public sector officials who can explain investor-friendly benefits, including tax breaks, set up by the Saudi government to bolster foreign investment and offer high-level contacts. GITEX Saudi Arabia 2008 will constitute a goldmine of international IT sector investment opportunity. It will be a highlight on the international IT events calendar.
