Tamkeen launches new IT career path for 100 Bahrainis

On the sidelines of the Bahrain ICT Expo 2009, Tamkeen signed a BD 500,000 agreement with EXCEED IT Services, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner that provides high quality IT Solutions through partnerships with leading companies and organisations.

The agreement was signed by Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Mr. Abdulellah Al-Qassimi and EXCEED IT Services’ Chairman Mr. Adel Al-Safar.

The initiative’s main aim is to bridge the gap between academic life and a successful working life through providing opportunities for gaining practical experience. 100 Bahraini university graduates will receive theoretical and practical training for 12 months in order to take up jobs in the IT field after graduation, such as Enterprise Consumer Support Technicians, Server Administrators, Enterprise Administrators and Enterprise Infrastructure OS orApplications Administrators.

According to the agreement EXCEED will provide the trainees with learning and technical know-how and prepare them to gain industry-recognised IT training by certified trainers and industry professionals.

As trainees, Bahraini job-seekers on this promising career-path can expect a starting salary of BD 600 increasing to BD 1,200 depending on the trainees’ level of achievement in the 12-month programme.

“Tamkeen has a rich suite of career and business enhancement and development programmes in place that cater to the IT industry,” observed Mr. Al Qassimi, “Information technology and associated areas such as Information Communications Technology (ICT) are at the heart of the knowledge industry that our leaders are keen to develop in Bahrain and we believe that training and business support for this sector directly benefits Bahrain and takes us forward towards the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 development blueprint.”

He added, “This initiative came to us from EXCEED IT Services and is an example of how we wish to work with the private sector through received initiatives. We believe that this initiative will not only open new doors for Bahraini career seekers but also strengthen EXCEED’s impact on the IT sector.”

EXCEED IT Services Chairman Mr. Adel Al-Safar said Tamkeen’s support would be invaluable in raising the bar for training and development in the sector.

“This initiative is not just about business development but also about putting in place the building blocks for future development of the sector through training the next generation of business leaders and innovators. EXCEED shall work closely with Tamkeen to ensure the success of this programme.”
