The competition, which is co sponsored by College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) and the Supreme Council for Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR), will take place on Saturday, May 30 9:00 at CNA-Q's main campus.

"This is an excellent opportunity for students in Qatar to get involved with new technology," said Dr. Theodore Chiasson, Dean of Information Technology at CNA-Q. "It will be exciting to see the classroom from their perspective and find out how they would prefer to learn using exciting technologies and apply them to math, science, English, religion, Arabic and other classroom lessons."

At the competition, students will present their projects to a panel of judges and awards will be given to the top entries in three grade groups - Elementary, Middle and High Schools. The students worked in small groups with the assistance of a teacher.

"Technology is having a profound impact on the field of education. We know that successful integration of ICT into schools can greatly improve student engagement and educational outcomes. In many cases, it is the students that are driving the innovations in the classroom and this competition is a great way for us to hear their creative ideas," said Dr. Ghadah Fakieh, e Education Manager at ictQATAR.

The Digital Star Competition was open to all K-12 schools in Qatar and was announced at the 2009 ICT in Education Conference, co-hosted by CNA-Q and ictQATAR in March 2009.
