Great jubilation greeted the exciting announcement of Nawras being named Middle East Call Centre of the Year 2009, as the highlight of the recent awards ceremony held by INSIGHTS in Dubai.

Coming away with a trio of awards, Nawras also received the accolade of Middle East Best Retention and Motivation 2009 as well as Middle East Best Career and Skill Path 2009.

After a rigorous application process, Nawras was selected as the best of the best out of the many companies that had entered from across the Middle East. Nawras customer service centre was nominated in every one of the six categories it entered and Nawras was the only company to walk away with three awards from this single event.

Nawras launched the first 24-hour customer service centre in the Sultanate over four years ago. This group of 200 enthusiastic young Omanis are extremely motivated and often go far beyond what is expected of them to help a customer. Both individually and collectively they take on the responsibility of living the customer experience everyday and also have great fun while doing so.

Thrilled with this fantastic result, Said Safrar, Customer Service Director was quick to congratulate both his team members who were present at the event itself and then everyone else back in Muscat, busily looking after customers and eagerly awaiting news of the result.

“We are all so proud and honoured to receive this recognition for being excellent, caring and pleasingly different,” he said. “Our customers are our most important consideration and these awards recognise the great relationship we have enjoyed nurturing since day one. With the Nawras team spirit, together we look after more than 1.6 million customers everyday and these awards will encourage us to deliver even greater service as we raise the bar further.”

He went on to thank INSIGHTS and to say how important it was to also be recognised for extensive investment in people which is regarded as an integral part of the Nawras way of doing things. Through numerous training programmes held both in-house and externally, Champions are encouraged to develop their skills and progress further along their chosen career path.

On their return to Muscat, the award holders were greeted enthusiastically at the airport by colleagues who cheered as they made their way out of the arrivals hall. Back at the main Nawras building in Athaiba, celebrations continued and gained momentum with an impromptu party unfolding in front of the main building. A lively Omani band was brought in to play traditional music for dancing and passersby were invited to join in the reception to mark the joyful occasion.

When Nawras began four years ago, it was with just 250 people and only a handful of those people possessed any mobile experience. Today the company is proud of having over 650 of the best mobile telecommunications professionals to be found anywhere.

Nawras is honoured to have accepted these awards in recognition of its continuous dedication to provide pleasingly different service for Nawras customers. A 47% market share today is evidence that the fastest growing family in Oman is delivering an award winning style of service that more and more customers are enjoying.
