UfM Secretariat today hosts the workshop ‘Women economic participation in ICT in the Mediterranean Region: Constraints and opportunities’ at UfM Secretariat Headquarters in Barcelona.
The workshop gathers around 40 participants from international organizations, public authorities, civil society and private sector organizations, with the main objective of providing a platform of dialogue for key stakeholders in the Mediterranean region to share knowledge, successful initiatives and best practices on promoting women’s participation in the ICT Sector.
Mr. Nizar Zakka, IJMA3 Secretary General participated as a speaker at the first session of the workshop entitled ” State of play and challenges for the women participation in the ICT sector in the region “ that was moderated by Emanuela Pozzan. Senior Gender Specialist, International Labour Organisation (ILO). in addition to Outi Kärkkäinen, Project Leader - Support to EU Policy and External Assistance, Operations Department, European Training Foundation (ETF), Emmanuel Baron, Cooperation Projects Officer, Directorate of Human Dignity and Equality, DG II – Democracy, Council of Europe (COE), Elisa de la Nuez, Founder, IClaves (Spain).
The session discussed issues related to the state of women participation in the ICT sector in the Euro-Mediterranean region,
the barriers and obstacles that hinder the equal participation of women in the ICT sector and what benefits are offered by ICTs to improve the women empowerment in the EuroMediterranean region.
